The term OFC (oxygen-free copper) is used synonymously with solid or all-99.9% copper conductors. OFC is a type of solid copper. When molten copper is cast and dran into a conductor, the process to make an OFC conductor reduces the oxygen cotent of the wire. If done perfectly, the copper-oxygen content is around 42 parts per million (PPM) vs. conventional copper with content roughly 6 times that amount. There are no regulated specifications for the use of the term OFC.
